Air, land and sea...

Back in March I ran a little contest for a free shoot and digital package. I was amazed with the number of entries and thrilled when I drew the winner - an old friend from Toronto who I met right after I had my first son. We'd meet at a coffee shop or park with some other moms, let our babies play and chat about everything under the sun (what I wouldn't do to have just a couple of mornings like that again - no schedule, just a wee baby tote to around and some friends to visit). Well, her baby is now almost six and she's since added another. 

We've made a few attempts at fitting this shoot in but her hubby is on the road a lot and when home and the weather is nice, these two fill their days jumping out of planes. So, this past weekend we made it happen... toured around their hometown of Port Colborne and of course, ended the shoot at the drop zone. 

And I PROMISE to come back in the spring - not to shoot but to jump!

Another winner...

This is November's winner of the Parent Guide Cover Contest. Another cover worthy kid - this little guy was great in front of the camera as was Miss January I photographed a couple of weeks ago. Not sure why I'm so lucky but I get the cutest kids to photograph!

And what does he want to be when he grows up? A superhero of course.

As I've announced a few times, myself, along with three other photographers, are donating our time to photograph the monthly winners of the Parent Guide Cover Contest. I met my first winner the other night and what a sweetheart. She's going to do amazing things and really go places - I have no doubt. She was the perfect little model and definitely deserving of the cover - I wish her lots of luck when the finals shots are released in June (and voting is open to the public so please take the time to check out the photos and vote for your favourite)!

Maybe it's the sunshine, the melting snow, the fact I actually picked up a rake today and not a shovel... I'm itching to get outside and shoot AND feeling very generous. So, to celebrate spring (which *fingers crossed* is just around the corner) I'm having a contest.

What's up for grabs? a FREE photo session and a special digital package including 10 digital files. (valued at over $750!) 

Who can enter? Anyone! This can be a family, child, newborn, high school senior, couple or a 'just you' shoot. 

Here's how to enter (you get one entry for each of the following):

1. enter using this link (give it a minute to load directly from my site - it may appear, disappear and reload - not sure why, I'm no web master but let it do it's thing and then fill it out. 

2.  Fan me on Facebook. (Already a fan? You’re automatically entered.) 

3. Get friends to become a fan and as long as they say who sent them in a quick message (either message me or post on the wall), you both get an entry.

4. Make a blog comment on any new or recent blog post for the rest of the month of March. Each comment (one per post though please) will get you an entry.

So lots of ways to enter - the more you do, the greater your chances. The contest will run from today until March 31st (midnight). A winner will be drawn at random on April 1st - check the blog that day for the winner.

Just a little newsflash...

I've donated 3 photoshoots to a contest running from now until April 2010. Do you think your baby/child is cover material? (I think every child is)

Each month for the next six, one child and one baby under one to will be chosen to receive a professional photoshoot and keepsake album. From those monthly winners, another winner in each category will be chosen to be on the cover of the 2010 New Parent Guide and School Age Guide.

All you have to do is drop off a toy or two non-perishable food items to one of the specified locations or make an on-line donation and then upload a photo of your child. Check out parentguide.ca for more info.

CONTEST TIME!

Ok, here it is, my first contest. As the year is coming to a close, I've taken some time to look back on all the fun shoots I've had and chosen my favourite 10 photos. Although I'd love to showcase one from each shoot, it would just be too many to ask voters to look at so I narrowed it down - it was tougher than I expected! All my 'other favourites' have been posted on my website. This is NOT a cutest kid contest (not a fan of those) - these are simply my picks chosen because of a feeling it evokes, a certain look, composition, colour - you name it.

What I'm asking people to do is take a look below at the 10 shots, fire off an email to info@kellymacdonaldphoto.com and give me the number of your favourite - numbers are found directly ABOVE photo (and there's a prize for voters too). I'll only accept one vote per email address and to keep this fair and from becoming a popularity contest, I'm going to invite some fellow photographers and my own friends to weigh in on their choice.

Here's the deal. The contest will be open for 7 days (December 15 to December 21). The winner will be posted here, on December 22. The person(s) in the photo garnering the most votes will receive their choice of:

1. A 2009 wall calendar - custom designed to showcase photos from your shoot;

2. A 11x14 print of the winning photo or any other photo from their shoot (mounted and ready to frame);
