MINI-SESSIONS

Trying something new out this year. I'll be offering a limited number of mini-sessions for two days only to get ready for Christmas (yikes) - one in August and one early September. If interested, let me know asap and note what weekends work for you. This will help me decide what dates to go with. One date will definitely be in Woodstock and if there's enough interest, I could do the other in London or Toronto.

Details below...

Ontario travel

I've had a few inquiries lately about travel so thought I'd write a post to see if there's any other interest so we could split some travel fees (I do charge a minimal amount to cover gas and a bit of my time - if I can coordinate 2 shoots in one trip, that means you get to split the travel costs).

Here are the locations...
Stouffville/Toronto, Barrie, Kingston

And if there are any other locations out there you'd like me to add to the list, let me know.

anyone need a photographer in Hawaii? - I'm totally willing to travel : )

My family...

I spend the majority of my time telling clients to relax, act natural, pretend I'm not here... like it's such an easy thing to do. Well, I did the other night. When another local photograper offered to do our family portraits, I jumped at the chance. In the past four years we've likely put over 300 photos into albums - with me in maybe 5 of them. Hard to be on both sides of the camera. I want my boys to know I played a role in their childhood - without pictures, there's no proof. I admit, it's tough being in front of the camera but honestly, not as bad as I thought it would be. I felt a bit awkward - not knowing how to stand, where to look, trying not laugh or get mad as my boys spent 45 minutes making faces, sticking out their tongues... doing everything you don't want them to do in family pics. Then I remembered... I started this business because I wanted to offer something different than the 'portrait studio' way of shooting. I wanted real life. I wanted pictures that are true to actual memories - real laughs, real cries, real craziness. One, two, three, 'say cheese' just doesn't cut it.

deep breath... embrace their craziness and go with it.

Anyways, we did it. Joanna did it. She captured us - the real us. Check it out here.

Stealing a quick blurb from a fellow photographer that I find inspiring and hope you do too:

Today I want to urge you to get over your shyness and pride and get in the picture!
I wish, wish, wish I had more pictures of me with our children. It is one of my few regrets.
So here’s the deal…
1. In five years you will look five years older….you WILL look young in the pictures you take today!
2. Ten years ago I thought I was fat. Oh my goodness….I should have taken pictures THEN.
3. Your children look at you all day long. THEY know what you look like. They won’t care how you look in the picture.
I really don’t like how I look in pictures. It pains me. I still want to look like I did when I was 25 years old. And really I’m shocked that I don’t.
But seriously. My children love me just the way I am. Chins and all.
Consider this your call to action!
You can do it. I know you can. If I can, you can!
Let your light shine. You will never regret it!

Encourage one another,

Miz Booshay

Come on... I did it. You can do it!

Over the river and through the woods...

I spent a gorgeous sunny morning with this family the other day at 'grandma's house'. Loads of grass to play in, barns to hide behind and trees to nap under. We did it all.

Thanks for a fun shoot guys!
